Supporting a cancer charity to improve its governance

We worked with the cancer professionals’ organisation TYAC over several months to develop a sustainable governance and business model to help ensure the future of the organisation.

This involved a full strategic review based on research with members and interested parties, and included recommendations on staffing requirements, budgeting, income generation strategy, and the future legal status of the organisation.

Our challenge was to find a structure which allowed time-poor ‘governors’ to appropriately monitor, manage and support day to day executives, and ensured the organisation continued to achieve its plans whilst retaining the values and knowledge of busy cancer professionals. Our recommendations were approved, and the organisation has subsequently changed its core staffing and its legal status accordingly.
